Winter To Spring Seasonal Flow: BRIDGED HEART
A 3-month soul-rooted journey of movement, breath, and becoming.
Each month builds on this cycle — from grounding to transformation to openness — in alignment with yogic philosophy — The 8 Limbs of Yoga, seasonal energetics, chakra wisdom, and ancient myth.
“Nurturing Seasonal Harmony In Your Yoga Practice and Daily Life”
A Letter to my Community Before We Begin
As I continue to grow and unfold in this human life, I find guidance in The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. And I am reminded that the fruits of our sādhana (practice) are far from the Self.
In the previous seasons, Fall reminded us that devotion looks like Hanuman’s leap, love bigger than fear, faith bigger than the ocean. The Winter Seasonal Flow invited the courage of the seeker. Naciketas, in the Katha Upanishad, dared to ask what is real, what remains, what is true beneath comfort. That story continues to bring forward a larger question for all of us: am I meeting myself fully while in this human existence? Many of us sat with that question in silence, in breath, in awareness, and soaking it all in. We stayed with inquiry instead of rushing toward answers.
Now we arrive at a hinge in the year, where winter begins to soften and spring gradually offers more light and warmth. Beneath the surface, the sacral chakra, Svādhiṣṭhāna, begins to awaken, and with that warming comes the quiet stirring of creation and growth. As the season continues to brighten, the solar plexus chakra, Maṇipūra, adds its own intelligence, offering clarity and discernment and helping us sense what feels aligned and what no longer does. Together, these energies support the planting of new seeds or the deepening of existing roots, allowing what is personal and honest to take form, even when it still carries a sense of uncertainty.
The heart, Anāhata, becomes the bridge in this movement. It is where awareness and action come back into a relationship, where the witness and the one who participates are no longer separate. This is the quality of early spring, when insight is no longer held only inwardly, but begins to shape how we live, relate, and express ourselves in the world. It offers Confidence, Expression, Courage, and Visibility if you are willing.
I found a story simple and lovely to share. I hope you enjoy it and share it with those you love, never knowing what you might spark in them.
The Two Birds (Mundaka Upanishad): Witness + Doer
The Upanishads speak of two birds perched on the same tree.
One bird eats the fruit—sweet, bitter, and everything in between.
This is the part of us that participates: the one who strives, loves, grieves, achieves, reacts.
The other bird does not eat.
It simply watches—steady, awake, unshaken.
This is the witness within us—the quiet that remains even when life gets loud.
Most of us live as the first bird alone—identified with every fruit.
Yoga is the practice of remembering the second bird.
Not to detach from life, but to meet it with clarity—so we can taste what’s here withoubeing consumed by it.
This season, our practice becomes the bridge:
from reactive living → to witnessed living → to offered living.
And month by month, we’ll move through it.
How to Use This Guide
Below, each month is broken out to help discern what is noise and find stillness through focus and intention. These embodied energies mirror both the natural rhythm of the season and the inner journey we experience in practice. A deeper understanding of the internal energy system.
The Heart Chakra · Anāhata
The heart chakra sits at the center of the chakra system and is often understood as the bridge between the lower centers of embodiment and action and the upper centers of insight and awareness. Anāhata is associated with the element of air, breath, circulation, and the space where a relationship lives.
Rather than being only about emotion, the heart is where awareness and action meet. It is where inner knowing begins to shape how we relate, respond, and express ourselves in the world. When the heart is present, effort softens into care, clarity gains compassion, and movement becomes guided rather than forced.
In seasonal practice, the heart often emerges in spring as what integrates what was gathered in stillness with what now wants to be lived. It does not rush expression, but gives it direction, honesty, and connection.
The Solar Plexus Chakra · Maṇipūra
The solar plexus chakra sits at the center of the torso and is often associated with inner fire, discernment, and personal agency. Maṇipūra relates to digestion, metabolism, and transformation, both physically and energetically. It is where raw experience is processed into clarity and direction.
Rather than being about force or control, the solar plexus is about alignment. It helps us sense what is ours to carry forward and what no longer resonates. When this center is supported, action feels intentional rather than reactive, and confidence arises from clarity instead of effort.
In seasonal practice, Maṇipūra often becomes more active as light and warmth increase. It supports the movement from creative impulse into grounded action, helping ideas, intentions, and insights take form in a way that feels honest and sustainable.
The Sacral Chakra · Svādhiṣṭhāna
The sacral chakra sits in the lower pelvis and is often associated with creativity, sensation, adaptability, and flow. Svādhiṣṭhāna relates to water, movement, and the ability to respond rather than resist. It is where life energy begins to organize itself into feeling, curiosity, and expression.
Rather than being about productivity or output, the sacral center is about relationship with sensation. It invites us to listen to the body’s cues, to move with rhythm, and to allow experience to unfold without forcing form too soon. When this center is supported, movement feels fluid, emotions are met with awareness, and creativity arises naturally rather than through pressure.
In seasonal practice, Svādhiṣṭhāna often awakens as winter thaws into spring. It supports the transition from stillness into motion, helping what was sensed inwardly begin to move, explore, and take shape in a way that feels authentic and responsive.
At The Yoga Space, We all continue to grow into beautiful expression of a greater consciousness—to move, breathe, and open through the heart of this season.
